How it works

Vakano is a free listing site. Guests find the home — and write directly to the owner.

For guests

  1. Search. Filter by area, number of people and price.
  2. View the home. Every listing has photos, a description, facilities and an ID, so you can always refer to it.
  3. Write directly. The contact form on the home's page is sent as an email to the owner — not to an agency. The owner replies to your email.

Using the site is free. There is no booking fee, and you pay the agreed price directly to the host.

Find a holiday home

For owners

  1. Create an account. You use your email and a password — it is free to create and display your holiday home. We only charge once you have had a rental: DKK 50 per completed rental, with no subscription and no commission.
  2. Create your holiday home. Add a title, location, price, facilities and up to 20 photos. You get a unique ID, for example SD-4821.
  3. Get your own page. Your home gets its own address (/sommerhus/SD-4821), and you get your own host page with all your homes.
  4. Log in and make changes. With the email you gave, you can always log in and change photos, text, price — or hide the home again.
  5. Get requests by email. All enquiries from the contact form land straight in your inbox, and you can answer the guest right away.

Why the site exists

There are many hosts in Denmark — and many of them do a great job, but are overlooked by big agencies with high fees. Here it is free to create and display your holiday home, and DKK 50 is paid per completed rental, so guests can get in touch without going through a middleman.
